How to Deliver your Own Baby!

The Title says it all.  Without going into all the nitty gritty details of childbirth, I can say this, it was not supposed to happen this way.

My wife started having contractions which were becoming stronger, closer to the 5 minute time-frame in between contractions so that you know, it’s time to go in the hospital.  However, when you go from 8 to 7, to 6, to 4, to 2 minutes all within about a 20 minute time-frame, there’s not much that you can do…  well, not much you can do except deliver your child who refuses to stay in the womb…

This is what happened with my wife and I last night…  At about 1:50, Lily crowned and I dialed 911.  After I grabbed some towels, the babies head was all the way out at this time but was blue/purple and wasn’t breathing.  So of course I was  a bit rattled and reached in to ensure the umbilical cord was not choking her etc..  It was at this time when I told Charisa, (who was a true Spartan Woman), she gave a solid push while I pulled a bit and out came my daughter..  the fruit of my loins in the palms of my hands :)

She wasn’t breathing or moving and was somewhat lifeless, so I flipped her over gently on her stomach in my hand and started rubbing her back.  She coughed up a bit and just “Came to life” and started crying.  The only thing I had was a day old dirty T-shirt to wipe her down with and the 911 person stayed online with us until Paramedics arrived, about 10 minutes later.

It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever done and was just absolutely incredible that I can’t even put it into words what I’m feeling right now other than shock and complete joy that my wife and daughter are doing great..  I personally need quite a few drinks.  Just wanted to share.
